Balcony rails

Went past the house today. The brick cleaners were there finishing off the bricks around the alfresco area. It looks like all the bricks have now been cleaned. The balcony hand rails have also been installed this week.

Garage Door

We have the garage door. Kate was disappointed when the developers said no to our first colour choice for the garage door. We were pretty much told that we had to have this colour to get developer approval. Looking at it, I think it turned out for the best. We are happy with the colour.

and more gyprock

The staircase looks great. We've added storage under ours. It's odd that the normal plan for the Cambridge does not have access to under stairs storage.

The space seems to be good. I guess we got a pretty good idea from the display home, but with so many changes, it is good to see how it turned out.

Gyprock - Internal pics

We went out to the block today, and luck had it, a tradesman was there working, who kindly escorted us around to take a quick peek. We can really get an idea now of what the finished space will be like.

Stairs

Wow. A week of activity this week with the staircase arriving as scheduled. We only have the through the window shots at present, but hopefully we'll get time to arrange another site visit soon to get some internal shots.

This weeks has also seen the garage door arrive, the front door, the upstairs door to the balcony, and the laundry door. Also, the anchor parts for the balcony rail have been fitted. It's hard to see, but I think some of the cornices have been done.

If the rest of the build progresses at the speed of this week, then we might have a decent chance of an on time finish.

Gyprock

We have gyprock. Kate went by today and snapped these photos from on her phone. Hopefully we'll get some better ones on the weekend. Also, the long awaited missing window has appeared

An update about not a lot

Things have really slowed down these last few weeks. We've seen virtually no progress for at last a couple of weeks now. The only change I could see was that the wall and roof insulation has been installed, probably half a day's work. There is still a fair way to go on the contract, but I'm beginning to have some reasonable concerns that the build is not going to come in on schedule. Gyprock was booked today, but at midday, there was no sign of anyone working.

We were the first to commence construction on our block, with the other 3 neighbours building with Beechwood, a private small building firm, and Clarendon. The Beechwood started a good 8 weeks after our build, and we are now the least progressed. The small building firm is winning the race, with all of their internal lining done. They are even up to landscaping and fencing. The Beechwood and Clarendon are about neck and neck, and we are coming dead last, wheezing our way to the finish line like a biggest looser contestant running a marathon. The best comparison to our build is the Clarendon, as it too is a 2 story, and they started just a week or so after us. The gyprock on the Clarendon is all done, and their staircase is in. Our staircase is booked to be started in about 2 weeks.

Hopefully next week we will see some gyprock.
